Lucas Möller

Chief Operating Officer

Lucas Möller is a highly regarded energy storage expert, who commercialized some of the industry’s first utility-scale solar plus storage projects. In his prior experience developing an energy storage platform he oversaw a pipeline of more than 4 GW of energy storage projects and the execution of more than 745 MW / 2,900 MWh now in operation. As COO of Nightpeak Energy, Lucas fits together the company’s market opportunities with an actionable strategy to support growth.

Prior to founding Nightpeak Energy, Lucas served as Head of Energy Storage at Recurrent Energy, a leading North American utility-scale solar and energy storage project developer. In this role, Lucas was responsible for creating Recurrent Energy and Canadian Solar’s business case for energy storage in the US and abroad and growing the energy storage project pipeline. While at Recurrent, Lucas negotiated PPAs for many early solar plus storage projects and one of California’s largest stand-alone battery projects.

Prior to joining Recurrent, Lucas served as Director of Consulting Services for PowerAdvocate, a supply chain and management consulting business focused on the energy industry. In this role, Lucas worked with energy utilities and developers to optimize multi-billion dollar programs and execute novel projects. Lucas has an eclectic background from his early career experiences in environmental engineering, Mars planetary science at the University of Idaho, and climate policy research while at his alma mater Stanford University.

Lucas holds a Bachelor of Science in Earth Systems – Energy Science & Technology from Stanford University and has served as a member of the Board of the California Energy Storage Alliance.
