Michael Laubenthal is an energy industry executive with experience across a diverse range of technologies and revenue strategies and a background in development, investment and finance. Over the course of his career, Michael has led the acquisition, financing, and sales of over $1.3B in clean energy assets across the United States. As CFO of Nightpeak Energy, Michael oversees all finance and investment activities and brings a deep understanding of structured finance, energy markets and development.
Prior to Nightpeak Energy, Michael served as Head of Project Finance at Recurrent Energy, a leading North American utility-scale solar and energy storage project developer. In this role, Michael led a team responsible for project and corporate capital raising including asset sales, debt and tax equity financing, and corporate capital facilities. At Recurrent Michael also worked closely with the development and power markets teams to make decisions across the portfolio and guide corporate strategy. Michael joined Recurrent after spending time in private equity focused on solar, wind, biogas, and wastewater treatment finance, investment, development, and execution. Prior to this Michael held various roles at PwC, a top global accounting and professional services firm.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from Santa Clara University with a major in Finance and concentrations in Economics and Accounting and is a CFA charter holder.
